Saturday, May 12, 2012 - 12:00pm

Join beloved and renowned authors Tony Abbott, Jacqueline Davies, and Erin Moulton for an afternoon of reading, signing, and kid-friendly discussion.

Tony Abbott will read from The Battle Begins

Owen Brown is an average fourth grader. Or he was, until his best friend, Dana, disappeared — through the floor of the school. Owen’s average life has turned upside down. He’s determined to find Dana before anyone realizes she’s missing. Owen sets out on a mysterious, mythological rescue mission with his friends Jon and Sydney.

Tony AbbottThe author of three best-selling series for young readers, Tony Abbott didn’t actually turn to writing full-time until 1994. Since then, however, he has written more than seventy-five novels for young readers, including The Haunting of Derek Stone series, the Time Surfers series, Kringle, The Postcard, winner of the 2009 Edgar Award for the Best Juvenile Mystery novel, Firegirl, winner of the Gold Kite Award for Fiction, and The Secrets of Droon series, which the American Booksellers Association counted in their list of "Books to Read while Waiting for the Next Harry Potter." Tony has also taught writing workshops for all elementary grades, and lives in Connecticut with his family.

Jacqueline Davies will read from The Bell Bandit

Jacqueline DaviesFor as long as Jessie could remember, New Year’s Eve meant staying at Grandma’s house and the long, slow climb to the top of Lovell’s Hill, where the trees parted and the sky opened and there stood the old iron bell… But this year, everything is different. Grandma has accidentally set her house on fire, which means Evan has to sleep on the couch in the living room while the whole house is turned into a construction site. And when Jessie snowshoes her way up Lovell’s Hill, she finds that the New Year’s Eve bell is missing. Who would steal the bell? How can Jessie and Evan get it back in time for New Year’s Eve? And why does Grandma seem so different? The third book about the unforgettable brother-sister duo of the best-selling Lemonade War series explores the complex emotions of children as they face profound change.

Jacqueline Davies was born in Cleveland, Ohio but moved to Wellesley, Massachusetts as a child. She is the author of many children’s books, including The Lemonade War and The Lemonade Crime, the first two books in the Lemonade War series. Jacqueline has won numerous awards for her writing, including the New York Library’s Best Books List, the IRA/CBC Children’s Award Notable Book for Fiction, and the CCBC Choices Award. She lives in Needham, Massachusetts with her three children and their dog.

Erin Moulton will read from Tracing Stars

Indie Lee Chickory is the fish freak of Plumtown. She’s an expert at making fish faces and has a pet, The Lobster Monty Cola, who lives in a salt-water pool outside her bedroom window. But when Indie accidentally brings Monty to school, to disastrous results, her older sister Bebe almost dies of embarrassment, and Indie is left without anyone. No friends, no sister, and no lobster.

Erin MoultonIndie wants to find The Lobster Monty Cola and to be a better Chickory so that Bebe will like her again. During the day, Indie works at the theater, showing Bebe and her friends how much she can fit in with their crew. And at night, she searches for her lost lobster by building a fishing boat up in a tree with Owen Stone, who works in the props shop. Everything seems to be going well — until Bebe and her gang make it clear that being friends with Owen is a ticket straight to loserville. Can Indie keep her friendship with Owen a secret? And will doing so make her a better Chickory — or a worse one?

Erin Moulton graduated with an MFA in Writing for Children from the Vermont College of Fine Arts in 2007. She is the author of Flutter: The Story of Four Sisters and One Incredible Journey, which was named a Kids’ Next pick for Summer 2011 by Indie Bound. Erin lives in Southern New Hampshire with her husband and puppy where she writes, reads, drinks tea and dreams.
