YOUTH CLASSES
NEW! Doll Clothes Sewing Class
Recommended Ages: 7-12 Basic Machine Sewing Skills Necessary
When:
• Saturday, May 11th 9am-5pm (1 hr. lunch break)
• Tuesdays, June 4, 11 & 18, 25th 3:30-5:30pm
Cost: $150
Required Materials: Portable sewing machine You will need to purchase fabric supplies and pattern.
Description: Make your own doll clothes. This class will be an open sew class focusing on making your own clothes or accessories for your favorite doll. You choose the pattern, bring it in along with the supplies and the instructor will assist you as you create your doll outfit.
New! Youth Jewelry Design Class – Basic Bead and String ![]()
Recommended Ages: 8-14

Description: Basic Beading Class – Join us for a custom beading and string class and learn the basic skills needed for creating beaded jewelry. In this small group class you will be creating your own custom necklace and stretchy bracelet. Learn the basic cords to design your own necklace, as well as the different closure methods and which ones to use when making different kinds jewelry. You will also have the opportunity to work with stretch cord and create your own stretchy bracelet.
New! Youth Jewelry Design Class - Macramé and Wire Works
Recommended Ages: 8-14

Description: Macramé and Wire Works Class – Expand your jewelry making skills with this small group class. Learn the basic knots and closure methods used in macramé. Work with hemp, leather or waxed cotton to create your own macramé bracelet. We will also explore different wire work techniques used in jewelry making that will enable you to create your own pair of earrings.
YOUTH PAJAMA PARTY SEWING CLASS OUR MOST POPULAR CLASS!!
Recommended Ages: 8-14 No Sewing Experience Necessary
When:
•Saturday, May 25th 9am-5pm (1hr. lunch break)
•Thursdays, June 6, 13, 20th 3:30-6:00pm
Cost: $150
Required Materials:
• Portable sewing machine
• 3 yards of fabric of students choice (suitable for pajama pants)
• One spool of matching all purpose thread
Description: You will be creating a custom pair of pajama pants and matching drawstring overnight carrier bag. This session will teach the student the basics of machine sewing, how to operate the sewing machine, layout and cut fabric, use a pattern properly and safely use the iron.
YOUTH CASUAL CHIC SEWING CLASS
Recommended Ages: 8-14 Basic Machine Sewing Skills Necessary
When: Saturday, June 1st 9:00am-5:00pm (1hr. lunch break 12-1pm)
Cost: $150
Required Materials:
• Portable sewing machine
• Two yards of sweatshirt fleece or polar fleece
• One yard of alternate fleece for contrasting designs
• Spool of matching Thread
• ½ yard of ribbing for cuffs and waistband
• 18” jacket separating zipper
Description: Build upon your basic sewin skills by working with various stretch fabrics and zipper applications. Create a designer Hooded Zip-Front Sweatshirt and make your own fashion statement. Choose from a pullover or full-zip front sweatshirt with hood and front pockets. Keep it simple with coordinating fabric and ribbing or mix it up with contrasting prints and solids or color blocking. The possibilities are limitless, you decide.
YOUTH OPEN SEW CLASS
Recommended Ages: 8-14 Basic Machine Sewing Skills Necessary.
When: Saturday, June 8th 9am-5pm (1hr. lunch break)
Cost: $150
Required Materials:
• Portable sewing machine
• Fabric, pattern and notions of your choice along with matching spool of thread.
Description: Have a project you’ve started and are stuck on? Been wanting to make a certain garment but are skeptical to tackle it on your own? This day will be for you to work on any sewing project you’d like with the guidance of your instructor. Push yourself to learn new techniques and improve your sewing skills. This course is designed for those with some sewing experience who would like to move on to a more challenging project.
YOUTH FASHION SKETCHING CLASS
Recommended Ages: 8-14
When:
• Saturday, June 15th 9am-5pm ( 1hr. lunch break)

• Paper or sketch book
• Color pencils and eraser
Description: Interested in fashion sketching? Learn to draw fashion figures, clothing and accessories with style and detail. No design or art talent needed, join other fashion enthusiasts and learn to illustrate using design and color techniques along with your own unique sense of style and flair.

Whether you’re a beginner or brushing up on past skills, our adult fashion classes are designed to offer you a relaxed learning environment with small class sizes and professional instruction.
ADULT BEGINNER PATTERNMAKING CLASS
A beginner’s class on basic patternmaking
When:
• Meets for 4 sessions Tuesdays & Thursdays June 4, 6, 11 & 13th 6:00-8:00pm
Cost: $175
Required Materials: No Supplies Required
Description: Learn the basics of Patternmaking while drafting a custom skirt in your own measurements. You will learn how to take proper measurements, draft a basic skirt sloper (basic block for making patterns) and stylize it into a basic skirt pattern. The stylizing will include instruction on how to draft pockets, kick pleat, zipper placement and waistband. You will also learn how to manipulate darts and add seam allowance to your final pattern. Pattern paper will be supplied and patternmaking tools will be available in the class for students to use.
ADULT SKIRT SEWING CLASS
A sewing class to construct a skirt; some sewing experience recommended.
When:
• Meets for 4 sessions Tuesdays and Thursdays, June 18, 20, 25, 27th 6:00-8:00pm
Cost: $175
Required Materials:
• Portable sewing machine
• Three yards of fabric of suitable for your skirt
• 7" skirt zipper
• One spool of matching all purpose thread
Description: Learn machine sewing skills while constructing your skirt using your custom skirt pattern from Pattern Class (basic skirt pattern will be provided if you did not take the Pattern Class) You will learn the basics of operating the sewing machine, basic machine sewing and construction methods for pockets, zippers, darts, seam finishes and more. Tools will be supplied in the class. A portable sewing machine is required and should be brought to each class. You should bring 3 yards of woven fabric suitable for your skirt, a 7" skirt zipper, and one spool of matching all purpose thread.
ADULT ALTERATIONS CLASS
A hands-on sewing class focused on alteration and design tips

Required Materials:
• Your own garments to work on along with matching thread for each garment
• Portable sewing machine
Description: Have a closet full of clothes that don’t fit or need to be repaired? Bring them in and work on them with the guidance of our sewing instructor. This 2 hour-small group open forum will allow you work on your own projects while gaining knowledge of basic clothes alterations.
ADULT OPEN SEW COACHING SESSION
An open forum sewing class with customized coaching to fit your project needs.
When & Where:
• Friday, May 17th 1-3pm
• Thursday, June 13th 1-3pm
• Thursday, June 27th 1-3pm
Cost: $75
Required Materials:
• Sewing project of your choice to work on along with matching thread and notions for each garment
• Portable sewing machine
Description: This small group 2 hours session is designed to allow you to bring in your own projects and work through the difficult sewing challenges that have kept you from finishing your project. You will have the assistance of an instructor to coach you and offer tips on completing your project successfully.
CUSTOM SESSIONS
Don’t see a class that fits your interest or schedule? Want to choose your own project? Adults or youth sign up with three of your friends and choose your own time and project. Minimum class size four students, three 3-hour sessions or one full day intensive, time and project to be determined by students and teacher.

Fashion Instructors
Roseanna Ansaldi holds a BS in Business & Visual Communications and an AS in Fashion Design. She has vast experience in the fashion industry as a proprietor and instructor with skills in patternmaking, clothing construction, draping and textiles; she presently teaches design at Bay State College in Boston and is the clothing manager for Phillips Academy apparel at the Andover Bookstore.
Elaina Barisano holds a B.F.A in Art Education and a Certificate in Fashion Design She has years of Fashion Industry and teaching experience in illustrating, designing and making of clothes and presently teaches at The School of Fashion Design in Boston and Lasell College in Newton.
Martha Palaza holds a Master in Fine Arts, in Fashion Design from the Academy of Art University, San Francisco and a Junior Certificate in Fashion Design from the School of Fashion Design, Boston. She is an apparel design professional with experience and education focused on production, manufacturing and teaching. Her skills include pattern drafting, draping, garment construction and textiles. She currently works for Costume Works, Inc. in Somerville, MA as a Costume Technician catering to national theater, opera and entertainment clients such as Disney.
Linda Elaz holds a Certificate from the School of Fashion Design in Boston. She is a custom apparel business owner with her focus on dancewear and costume design. She is skilled in patternmaking, draping, clothing construction and textiles with expertise in dancewear fabrics. In addition to her custom apparel business, she works for Pins & Needles, a costume shop in Danvers, MA.
